little-school-logo-cathedralGREAT people come from LITTLE beginnings….

As a ministry of Grace Church Cathedral, Little School provides an age-appropriate, academic foundation in a Christian environment. Our well-trained and educated staff and excellent educational curriculum help our students discover that learning is fun and exciting. Through our nurturing and loving setting, students develop self-reliance, concentration and initiative that create a superb educational foundation for lifelong success.

Little School offers programs for children age 18 months through Kindergarten. Our school hours are 8:30am-11:50am with after-school enrichment and Lunch Bunch options. Classes are structured as follows:

Chapel
Each week students attend chapel led by Father Caleb Lee.  Held in the church sanctuary, children become accustomed to their surroundings, learn age appropriate songs and prayers and hear bible stories.

Music
All students participate in music class twice per week.  Led by Jodi Bennett, these classes build attention and self-expression and include singing, musical games, creative movement and storytelling.  At Christmas students learn music for and participate in our annual Christmas Pageant.  In the spring, children in the Fours and Fives classes present Peter Rabbit.

Creative Play
We believe the ability to be creative is an important aspect of a well-rounded child.  Little School students enjoy art within their classroom, where paint, clay and other colorful media are used to reinforce daily lessons.  Free play is also part of the daily morning routine giving children the opportunity for socialization, to make independent choices and to learn by playing on their own and with others.

Family Involvement
Little School is a nurturing program in which parents are invited and encouraged to play an active role in their child’s education.  Social functions, including parent coffees and a family picnic are held to facilitate active relationships among families.  In addition, parents are invited to join their children for events like the Halloween sing-a-long and parade and Thanksgiving food drive and chapel.  Parent volunteers enable Little School to take field trips, celebrate the many holidays and host special events.
